What are scorpions?

Scorpions typically live outdoors but use our homes as a respite from extremely hot or dry weather. They know that moving indoors will provide them with safe, cool shelter and, most likely, access to water.

Another reason that scorpions wind up in our homes is after following their insect prey inside. As scorpions hunt their prey, they move indoors through any gaps in the exterior of your home that they come across.

Inside they hide in dark, secluded areas. Doing things like putting on your shoes, getting under the covers in your bed, or reaching into a box stored in the basement could put you into accidental contact with scorpions.
